-by ** Name ** (Institute)+by **Christian Landry**, Université Laval.

-Read the summary [[]]+**Abstract**Gene duplication affects genome evolution in many ways and is the primary source of novel functions. One consequence of gene duplication is the addition of connections among proteins in cellular networks. Although many of these new connections are likely to confer novel and advantageous functions to the cell, some may also reflect the accumulation of neutral mutations that have led to the evolution of molecular complexes. I will present our work over the past seven years to understand this phenomenon, which has involved multidisciplinary approaches, including high-throughput screening, genome editing and engineering, as well as the determination of the structures of novel protein complexes evolved in the laboratory.
